Job summary

Moog Inc. is looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join the Space and Defense Group in Santa Barbara, CA. The role follows a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off, and involves designing, coding, debugging, and integrating advanced turreted weapon systems.

You will work on real-time embedded software with RTOS and Linux, travel 10–15%, and must be eligible for a U.S. security clearance. Candidates should hold a B.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design/development/test of embedded real-time control software; 7+ years preferred.
• C language proficiency; Java is a plus.
• RTOS and bare metal and embedded Linux experience.
• Experience with communication protocol drivers and stacks (networking, 1553, UART, SPI, I2C).
• Ability to read datasheets, schematics, and protocol documents.
• Ability to travel approximately 10-15%.
• Must be able to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, debug, and integrate capabilities for turreted weapons systems.
• Debug issues in existing systems.
• Integrate capabilities in Systems Integration Lab and in the field.
• Design and architect software for scalability, performance, and modularity.
• Deliver executable software that meets quality and performance requirements.
• Produce documentation that meets contractual requirements.
• Provide status reports to management during project execution.
