Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for the Precision Fires team in Huntsville, AL, onsite at Redstone Arsenal. You will design, develop, test and debug embedded software for real-time systems, read schematics, and collaborate with hardware engineers to deliver robust solutions.

Responsibilities include ensuring software standards, guiding junior staff, and communicating with management and customers to resolve complex issues.

Qualifications

• LabVIEW experience with best practices and OO programming.
• Knowledge of source revision control and code reviews.
• Design a system that is easy for end users to configure.
• Minimize code duplication and inter-component coupling for uptime.
• Document troubleshooting steps for knowledge bases.
• Debug hardware-software systems using a systematic approach.
• Self-starter with autonomy and initiative.
• Able to communicate effectively to mgmt and customers.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs embedded software.
• Develops software for real-time operating systems and processors, including networking/radio.
• Reads schematics of complex electronics assemblies.
• Collaborates with hardware engineers during planning and development.
• Assesses user needs and analyzes system capabilities.
• Prepares operating instructions and user guides.
• Designs compilers, assemblers, and utilities; maintains software standards.
• Ensures compliance with software standards and project directions.
• Provides guidance to staff per policies and management guidance.
• Work is reviewed to ensure objectives are met.
• Engage with customers to deliver technical solutions.
