Job summary

Lam Research is seeking a Software Engineer 4 in Tualatin, OR, to design, develop, and troubleshoot software that supports Lam's etch and deposition products. You will ensure software-hardware integration and drive innovation across the product portfolio within a centralized software engineering team.

The role emphasizes mentoring junior engineers, implementing new customer requirements, and maintaining robust code with clear documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with 8+ years of experience (or advanced degrees with appropriate experience)
• Knowledge of object-oriented design and programming, design patterns, and finite state machines
• Experience with multithreading and thread scheduling
• Familiarity with I2C, SPI, UART communication protocols

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software for enhancements and new products
• Implement new customer requirements and features in the existing application
• Maintain and enhance existing code base by investigating and resolving issues
• Document solutions with clear code, diagrams, and explanations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop software programs
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring for junior engineers
• May visit customer sites and travel up to 10%
