Forj Medical seeks a Senior Software Engineer to lead embedded software on cross-disciplinary teams, translating client visions into software reality and shaping system architectures with safe, secure design choices.

They will guide architecture, implement features, and drive the full software lifecycle while mentoring teammates and delivering high-quality artifacts in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• BS, MS in Computer/Software Engineering or related field.
• 5–9 years embedded software experience in medical devices or regulated industry.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly with clients and peers.
• Experience with embedded Linux, Yocto Project/BSP, and driver configuration.
• Proficient in C++, C, and possibly C#; multithreaded/multiprocess applications.
• Experience with RTOS (ThreadX) and device driver development.
• Knowledge of Qt/QML, LVGL or GUI frameworks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development on cross-discipline teams and translate client visions into embedded software.
• Shape system software architecture with tradeoffs on functionality, performance, cost, and maintainability.
• Provide detailed estimates for milestones and deliverables; manage scope, schedule, and budget.
• Guide architecture, design, implementation, testing, and integration of features in Agile workflows.
• Mentor software engineers, plan work, delegate tasks, and coordinate execution.
• Design, implement, test, and own quality of software artifacts and reviews.
• Lead software initiatives, process improvements, and internal library contributions.
• Represent Forj’s software perspective in proposals, design reviews, and client discussions.
