Job summary

Forj Medical seeks a Senior Software Engineer to lead embedded software development on cross‑discipline teams. You will translate client visions into embedded software, shape system architecture, and balance performance, cost and maintainability while ensuring safety and cybersecurity.

Expect autonomy in design and mentoring of engineers. Responsibilities include defining requirements with clients, driving architecture, and delivering features in an agile workflow, with a focus on FDA/IEC 62304

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or equivalent degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar field.
• 5-9+ years’ experience in embedded software development in Medical Device or other regulated industry, lead role preferred.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and build trust with clients and peers.
• Significant experience with embedded Linux development on SoMs – Yocto Project/BSP and driver configuration.
• C++, C#, and/or C with multithreading and multi-process knowledge.
• Experience with GUI development (Qt, MVC/MVVM/MVP) and related patterns.
• Microcontroller programming with RTOS (ThreadX) and debugging tools.
• Expertise in software architecture, design and test across unit/integration/system levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development on cross-discipline teams and translate client vision into embedded software.
• Shape system software architecture and balance functionality, performance, cost and maintainability.
• Provide estimates for milestones and deliverables in an agile workflow.
• Direct software team through architecture, design, implementation, testing and integration.
• Ensure architectural integrity, code quality and robust design through reviews and mentorship.
• Lead initiatives to improve processes and contribute to internal libraries.
