RTX’s Global Engineering Center in Puerto Rico seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for the Military Avionics domain. The role focuses on design, development, integration and verification while collaborating with top engineers on Flight Management & Controls.

The position is hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) in Aguadilla, PR, and requires Puerto Rico residency with no relocation offer.

Qualifications

The Global Engineering Center in Puerto Rico is looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer , to join our Military Avionics organization.We are in search of a strong, passionate and action-oriented candidate with a collaborative mindset who strives to exceed expectations.

This person will be part of the Flight Management & Controls team. In this role you will be responsible for design, development, integration and verification activities in a hands-on work environment to address and implement Military Avionics solutions. Here, you’ll collaborate with top-tier engineers and industry experts, leveraging advanced technologies to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

This role is categorized as hybrid , with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

What YOU will do:

• Support programs on Software Development Lifecycle activities (Requirements, Design, Code, Testing, etc.).
• Perform in a cross-functional agile team to deliver Program milestones.
• Work in close coordination with other system/software engineers within the domain to support FMS using Collins Aerospace engineering processes.
• Travel is possible for this position, estimating <10% of the year.

Qualifications you must have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
• Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Ability to mentor Junior team members
• Airborne Software development/testing experience
• RTCA/DO-178 (or similar) certification-based experience
• Knowledge in AGILE/Waterfall methods
• Communication Protocols experience: ARINC 429, MIL-STD 1553, etc.
• Programming Language experience: C/C++, Python, Ada 95 etc.
• Knowledge of Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, LynxOS, etc.
• Experience with Tools/Processes: GitLab, SVN, Jira, JAMA, Confluence, DOORS, etc.
