Job summary

Collins Aerospace seeks an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Resilient Connectivity Products Software team in Puerto Rico. You will design and implement embedded software across an aerospace connectivity portfolio, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate advanced technologies for ground-to-air communications.

You will gain exposure to Linux-based development, hardware qualification, and software release processes in a dynamic, hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• STEM degree required with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong command of English (written and spoken).
• U.S. citizenship required for access to program information.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate and test communications software for aircraft connectivity products.
• Collaborate with FPGA, hardware, systems, and software teams to embed technology across product portfolio.
• Develop embedded software in C++, C, Ada and Python on Linux for connectivity products.
• Prepare software builds for simulation, reference platforms and target hardware.
• Create embedded test solutions to support hardware qualification activities.
• Participate in software release activities and root cause investigations.
• Contribute to run-for-score activities and ensure quality across deliverables.

The Global Engineering & Technology Center in Puerto Rico is looking to hire an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Resilient Connectivity Products Software team, under the Mission Systems organization. We are in search of a strong, passionate and action-oriented candidate with a collaborative mindset who strives to exceed expectations.

What YOU will do:

• Design, develop, integrate and test communications systems for aircrafts that support multiple ways of connecting the aircraft to the ground and the airlines
• Work alongside FPGA, hardware, systems and software teams in order to seamlessly embed advanced technology into wide array of communications product portfolio.
• Conduct design, development, integration, implementation, and testing of our embedded software in C++, C, Ada and Python on Linux OS for our connectivity products.
• Prepare software builds for execution in a simulation environment, reference platforms and on the target hardware.
• Prepare embedded test solutions that support hardware qualification activities.
• Participate in formal run for score and software release activities.
• Participate in root cause investigations for complex issues seen internally and by the customer.

Qualifications you must have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
• Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English across all levels of an organization (verbal and written).
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience mentoring junior members within a team
• Experience leading and deploying Program strategies and initiatives
• Knowledge in AGILE and Waterfall methods
• Programming Language experience: C/C++, Python, Ada, SQL, Javascript etc.
• Knowledge of Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, LynxOS, etc.
• Experience with Tools/Processes: GitLab, SVN, Bamboo/Panda, Jira, JAMA, Confluence, DOORS, etc.
