Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Wisconsin to design, implement, and test embedded software for industrial radio and drive systems. You will work closely with New Product Development teams to deliver robust, safety‑critical solutions, leveraging C, C++, Assembly and various hardware interfaces.

You will design architectures, mentor teams, and coordinate testing across units and systems while collaborating with hardware in a cross‑functional environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a B.S. in Software, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
• 6+ years of professional embedded software development experience.
• Experience with embedded C/C++ and Assembly on microprocessor‑based systems.
• Familiarity with safety‑critical design and test‑driven development.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, and implement embedded software for industrial radio and drive‑related applications.
• Develop architectures that align with product specs and performance goals.
• Advise teams on best practices for design, testing, integration, and maintenance.
• Design and develop code using C, C++, and Assembly for microprocessor systems.
• Work with USB, RS232, SPI, I2C, and CAN protocols for data exchange.
• Coordinate unit, integration, and system testing activities.
• Use JIRA and version control with structured code reviews.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on schematics for software/hardware integration.
• Utilize test and debug tools (multimeters, scopes, logic analyzers) to diagnose issues.
• Apply test‑driven development to safety‑critical software.
• Provide input on RF solutions (BLE/Wi‑Fi) as they relate to embedded systems.
• Contribute to drive systems and related embedded control solutions.
• Identify and resolve complex technical problems, escalate when needed.
• Support a team environment and meet deadlines.
