Job summary

hireneXus in Eden Prairie, MN seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, implement, and test embedded and desktop application software across 8, 16, 32 and 64-bit platforms, including drivers and middleware.

The role requires strong C/C++, Python, Yocto Linux experience, collaboration with engineers and project managers, and mentoring others while delivering on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years’ experience developing software for embedded processor platforms, mainly using Yocto Linux or any other form of Linux distribution.
• 2+ years of experience developing system software or HAL layers on Android AOSP or other variants of Android operating system.
• Experience with embedded systems and microprocessor-based design.
• Experience with all aspects of product design including requirements documentation, system architecture, design for manufacturing, design for test and design verification.
• Ability to analyze customer requirements for feasibility, cost and development timeline.
• Strong communication skills including the ability to write technical specifications and design documentation.
• Thorough knowledge of CPU functions (L1/L2 cache, MMU, power states, bus arbiters & multiplexers, interrupts, DMA).

Responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into implementable architectures.
• Design and develop software for 8, 16, 32 and 64-bit processor platforms.
• Design and develop software in assembly language, C, C++ and Python.
• Develop device drivers for USB, ATA, Video, Audio, Ethernet, CAN, NAND/NOR flash, DDR3/4, SDRAM, HDMI, PCI Express, SPI, I2C.
• Work across bare metal, RTOS, Linux and Android platforms (Yocto, AOSP and open-source projects).
• Prepare design verification tests, software development plans, and design specifications.
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to ensure project completion; may manage customer projects.
