Job summary

Bascom Hunter is seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to contribute to mission-critical aerospace software. The role blends hands-on development with mentorship, collaborating with systems and hardware teams to deliver robust embedded solutions.

You will work primarily in C with RTOS and bare-metal contexts, ensure DO-178C/AS9115 compliance, participate in code reviews, and help shape architecture for high-performance ECS and power systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related engineering field.
• 5+ years of embedded software development in defense or aerospace.
• Strong C proficiency; C++ and Python a plus.
• RTOS and bare-metal development familiarity.
• Experience with embedded tooling, compilers, debuggers, and version control.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain clearance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an individual contributor and mentor for embedded software engineers.
• Collaborate with the Chief Software Engineer to architect and implement embedded software solutions.
• Develop embedded software primarily in C and related languages.
• Ensure compliance with AS9115 and DO-178C standards.
• Manage tasks, track progress, and adjust priorities to meet schedule and budget.
• Perform code reviews and enforce coding standards.
• Coordinate with systems and hardware teams for integrated software.
• Provide technical oversight and career development guidance.
