Job summary

MSA, The Safety Company in Cranberry Township, PA seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to tackle real-time challenges across sensor, wireless, and safety-critical systems. You will own architecture and drive robust firmware with the hardware teams.

You’ll mentor engineers, translate customer needs into technical solutions, and contribute to CI pipelines and verification to ensure quality across platforms used by firefighters and industrial workers worldwide.

Qualifications

• BSCE, BSEE or related technical discipline, preferably from ABET or similar accredited program.
• Staff III: 4+ years; Senior: 6+ years; MS may substitute for up to 1 year of experience.
• Strong real-time embedded software experience in C/C++ and hardware bring-up knowledge.

Responsibilities

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Strong proficiency in real-time embedded system and software design/implementation in C/C++
• Skilled in distilling deeply technical information down to its essence and packaging to gain buy-in for project or design direction (written and verbal)
• Adaptable mindset that thrives within business, project or technology ambiguity or constraints
• Agility and creativity in the face of complex challenges to quickly get to best result for the product, for the team, for the company
• Track record of delivering solutions that work and influencing the entire development process
• Take various stakeholder input and create or update the architecture or design to efficiently fulfill those needs
• Own the architecture or design, teach/communicate it to development team, maintain it through selective changes
• Identify and mitigate risks throughout development and testing of the embedded system/software
• Guide a team through solution development

Preferred:

• Proficiency in leading hardware bring-up efforts and diagnosing issues at the board, silicon, and driver layers
• Experience with wireless communications (BLE, Cellular, etc.)
• Skills with rapid prototyping, software design patterns, CMake, CI, various software development tools

Education and Experience Required:

• BSCE, BSEE or relevant technical discipline, preferably from an ABET or similarly accredited program
• This position is available at two different career levels based upon experience and education:
• Staff III: 4 years of relevant industry experience minimum
• Senior: 6 years of relevant industry experience minimum
• MS degree may be substituted for up to 1 year of relevant experience
