Job summary

Nexr, a Boston-based robotics company, is seeking a hands-on firmware engineer to own production-grade embedded software for robotic platforms. You will collaborate with hardware and controls engineers to move systems from prototype to deployment, working in a fast, senior team environment.

The role emphasizes real-time firmware on embedded Linux and RTOS, low-level drivers, sensor integration, and cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and controls teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of embedded software experience, ideally in robotics or a related field.
• Strong C/C++ across embedded systems.
• Experience with real-time operating systems and bare-metal development.
• Comfort working close to hardware and debugging at the register level.
• Prior exposure to ROS or ROS2 is a plus, not a requirement

A well-funded robotics company based in Boston building systems that operate in complex, unstructured environments. The engineering team is small, senior, and moving fast. This is a hands-on role with real ownership.

The Role

You will be writing production-grade firmware and embedded software for robotic platforms, working closely with hardware and controls engineers to bring systems from prototype through to deployment. The problems are genuinely hard and the work is varied.

What You Will Work On
