Responsibilities

Senior Embedded Software Engineer | Robotics & Advanced Engineering

At Stelvio, we’re interested in connecting with Senior Embedded Engineers developing intelligent hardware, robotics and electromechanical products.

We’re looking for engineers who enjoy working close to the hardware - developing firmware, bringing up new boards, understanding how physical systems behave and solving the challenges that emerge when a product moves from prototype into production.

The type of work

• Own embedded software development from requirements and architecture through implementation, integration, testing and release.
• Develop reliable C/C++ firmware for microcontrollers using bare-metal and/or RTOS environments.
• Work alongside electronics, mechanical and controls engineers on hardware bring-up and system integration.
• Develop and debug device drivers, communication interfaces and functionality supporting sensors, actuators or other connected hardware.
• Investigate timing, performance and reliability issues using lab equipment and embedded debugging tools.
• Build practical testing and validation approaches that support repeatable releases and reliable operation in the field.

The experience we’re interested in

• Typically 5+ years of relevant embedded software or firmware development, with evidence of delivering physical products.
• Strong C/C++ skills and a sound understanding of microcontrollers, interrupts, peripherals, memory constraints and real-time behaviour.
• Experience reading schematics and debugging across the hardware/software boundary.
• Familiarity with interfaces such as SPI, I²C, UART and CAN.
• Experience taking ownership of a substantial firmware subsystem or product through development and release.
• Confidence working within a small, multidisciplinary engineering team where requirements evolve and individual contributions matter.

Experience in motor control, power electronics, robotics, industrial sensing, signal processing or connected devices would be particularly relevant. Python for test automation and development tooling would also be useful.
