Job summary

Socket.dev in Atlanta, GA is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer for avionics-grade systems.

The role requires strong C++, RTOS, and safety-critical software practices; candidates should have a technical background in MIL-STD-1553/Ethernet, DO-178C, and be able to work onsite 100% with up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

Job description

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree or equivalent in a STEM discipline
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience
• C++ development for safety-critical avionics systems
• Real-Time Operating Systems (MOSA.ic, VxWorks, Integrity)
• Embedded application development using RTOS and Windows environments
• Prior SW Development and Integration experience utilizing the following communications protocols (MIL-STD-1553 & Ethernet)
• Software integration & test in lab and hardware environments
• Ability to obtain a security clearance
• Ability to work onsite 100%
• Ability to travel 10%

Preferred / Additional Skills

• Active Secret Security Clearance
• Experience utilizing Greenhills ARINC 653/APEX API
• Experience developing software for Electronic Warfare and Self Protection Systems ((ALQ-213, ALE-47, AN/AAR-47, AN/ALR-56M)
• Familiarity with software requirements development utilizing IBM DOORS
• CI/CD Pipeline experience
• Experience updating/reviewing software documentation (SRS/IRS, SDD/IDD, STP, STD, STR, etc)
• Proficient with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.)
• Version control and issue tracking (Gitlab, Atlassian suite)
• Hardware/software integration and troubleshooting
• • Experience with Wireshark and Lua script plugins
• Experience with safety-critical software development and practices (DO-178C)
• Experience communicating and documenting complex technical designs
• Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
