Job summary

Viasat seeks a senior Embedded Software Engineer for Space Infrastructure to lead teams designing and integrating software for satellite payload flight control, embedded cryptographic functions, and automated testing. You will work across system, test, and hardware teams on projects not fully designed, using C/C++, Python, and Rust.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong Linux/RTOS experience, and mentoring junior staff, with Agile SCRUM practices and occasional travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of embedded software design and implementation in C/C++.
• 4+ years Linux OS use, ideally for an embedded environment.
• 3+ years design and implementation experience with system test software in Python.

Responsibilities

• Analyze system level requirements and derive software requirements.
• Design and implementation with embedded software in C/C++ and Rust.
• Design and implementation with embedded and system test software in C/C++ and Python.
• Design and implementation of Linux OS applications in Python, C/C++, and Rust.
• Design and implementation of FreeRTOS applications in C/C++ and Rust.
• Debug and resolve complex integration issues.
• Lead design reviews and documentation tasks.
• Agile SCRUM development.
