Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a High‑Risk Embedded Security Professional to serve as an Alternate Special Security Officer (ASSO). You will work with security teams, cyber, FIE SSO, and government sponsors to oversee special security matters and ensure compliance with IC/DOE/DOD requirements.

On a typical day you may interpret laws, advise on security actions, maintain knowledge of standards, support SCIFs, track data, and conduct briefings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in security-related field plus five (5) years of related experience, OR equivalent (AS + 9).
• Active DOE Q (or equivalent) security clearance required to start, with the ability to obtain SCI access and polygraph testing.

Responsibilities

• Interpret federal laws, regulations, and requirements for IC, DOE, DOD, and other high-risk environments.
• Provide guidance on security requirements and advise management.
• Maintain current knowledge of security standards.
• Support one or more SCIFs.
• Track, trend and analyze data.
• Conduct security briefings and maintain records.
• Process and respond to reports from the SCI community.
• Conduct inquiries into potential IOSCs.
• Respond to security matters outside of normal hours.
