Boston Dynamics in Waltham, MA is seeking a Senior Staff Systems Engineer, Embedded Safety to lead the safety architecture and requirements for MCU/MPU-based embedded systems in its Safer Robotics Team. You will drive structured safety analyses and traceability across toolchains, coordinating with firmware and hardware colleagues.

You will guide safety case development, oversee HARA, FMEA, and FTA activities, and ensure verification through HIL/SIL workflows.

Qualifications

7+ years of systems engineering or embedded software experience in robotics or safety-critical systems.
Proficient in C/C++ for firmware and Python for test automation.
Experience with safety standards such as IEC 61508, ISO 26262, or IEC 62304.
Ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams and develop safety cases.
Familiarity with embedded interfaces (SPI, I2C, CAN, UART, Ethernet).

Responsabilités

Lead embedded system architectures and firmware requirements for safe autonomous platforms.
Establish end-to-end traceability across Jama, Jira, Git, and test frameworks.
Collaborate with Safety Firmware Engineers on safety features and interfaces for low-level protocols.
Develop and review safety analyses (HARA, FMEA, FTA) and edge-case identification.
