Job summary

Shure is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Development Engineer to design, implement, test, and integrate real-time software for Linux-based audio products. The role emphasizes architecture and cross-functional collaboration within the Product Development Division.

The position is hybrid from our Niles, IL office, requiring expertise in C/C++, embedded Linux, and Yocto, with responsibilities spanning design, testing, and integration of software components for cutting-edge audio technologies.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering; MS a plus.
• 5+ years of requisite experience.
• Embedded Linux experience, HW/SW platforming with Yocto is desired.
• C++ and/or C with OO design and programming.
• Networking protocols: Ethernet, IP, TCP/UDP; network security a plus.
• Understanding OS concepts and real-time embedded development tools.
• Experience with embedded system architectures and debugging.
• Hardware driver development and debugging exposure a plus.
• Software version control and releases.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test embedded software for audio product hardware.
• Focus on Linux-based platforms using C/C++.
• Collaborate on cross-functional teams for product architecture and software design.
• Estimate, organize and document tasks; follow software development practices.
• Model designs with UML and develop use cases for real-time systems.
• Review peer code and perform unit/integration testing of software components.
• Engage in debugging and verification of embedded software in hardware.
