Job summary

Patton Electronics seeks an experienced software engineer to design and develop a wide range of LAN/WAN networking software for embedded platforms. You will independently architect and implement components for real-time systems on microprocessors and networking ICs in an Agile team.

Responsibilities include requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, and mentoring junior engineers. Prior Linux-based environment experience is preferred, with a focus on quality and collaboration.

Qualifications

• A degree in Engineering or Computer Science with at least five years of C++ software experience.
• Strong organization, self-motivation, and clear verbal/written communication.
• Hands-on embedded Linux app or kernel software experience and Open Source use.
• Familiarity with networking, routing protocols, and voice/data communications is advantageous.
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and defect tracking.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and develop specifications for software components.
• Design or participate in system architecture design.
• Develop software to meet specifications.
• Document software, including UI and programmer APIs.
• Conduct peer reviews and design verification testing.
• Maintain existing software components.
• Debug and troubleshoot products.
• Mentor junior team members.
• Lead small team as required.
