Job summary

SirenOpt, Inc. in San Leandro, CA, seeks an Embedded Linux Software Engineer to join the firmware team building the stack for a bench-top instrument on AMD/Xilinx FPGA SoC with PetaLinux. You will work on userspace apps, drivers, and real-time interfaces.

You’ll own tests, CI, and tooling, write production C and Python code, and collaborate with hardware engineers through lab bring-up. This is a full-time on-site role.

Qualifications

• Embedded Linux development experience in C for userspace.
• Experience writing drivers for sensors, actuators, and instruments.
• Proven ability to design, test, and debug complex firmware.
• Documentation and Jira/Confluence usage.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded Linux applications in C (userspace, POSIX).
• Develop drivers for sensors, actuators, and instruments (kernel/Userspace).
• Implement TCP/IP protocols and device communication over serial/CAN.
• Build and maintain HIL automated test systems and host tooling.
• Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines and reproducible build infra.
• Support hardware bring-up and lab debugging; contribute to architecture decisions.
