Job summary

SirenOpt, Inc. is seeking an Embedded Linux Software Engineer to join a small firmware team building the embedded software stack for a bench-top scientific instrument.

The role centers on a Linux-based platform (AMD/Xilinx FPGA SoC) running PetaLinux, with userspace apps, drivers, and real-time control interfaces. You will write production code, develop test automation, and contribute to architecture decisions while collaborating with hardware and software colleagues through a sequenced release

Qualifications

• Candidates must have 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience with embedded Linux userspace, threading, IPC, and POSIX APIs.
• Strong proficiency in Python for test automation and scripted instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded Linux applications in C (userspace).
• Create and extend drivers for sensors, actuators, and instruments (kernel/userspace).
• Implement TCP/IP/UDP protocols and device communications.
• Develop host-side test tooling and emulators in Python.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and reusable build infrastructure.
• Participate in hardware bring-up and board-level debugging.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and design reviews.
• Write clear design docs and track progress in Jira/Confluence.
• Collaborate on HDL/OS/drivers/system integration releases.
