Job summary

ADT is seeking an embedded software engineer to develop and maintain software for security systems in an embedded Linux environment. You will design, implement, test, and release components across the software lifecycle, collaborating with Systems, Hardware, Quality, DevOps, Security, and Product teams to deliver reliable, production‑ready firmware.

You will build and optimize platform services, network interfaces, and device configurations, while ensuring security and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, MIS or equivalent experience.
• Strong hands-on experience developing and debugging C/C++ in embedded Linux environments.
• Knowledge of Linux kernel concepts, device interfaces, system services, networking, and software security.
• Hands-on Buildroot experience: configuration, packages, board config, cross‑compilation, system image generation, troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting firmware release processes, including OTA releases.
• Experience managing automated build, test, and release pipelines for embedded products.
• Strong technical judgment, ownership, teamwork, and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work across functions and quickly learn new concepts.

Responsibilities

• Own embedded software lifecycle components from design to release and maintenance.
• Design, develop, debug, test, and maintain C/C++ software for embedded Linux environments.
• Build and enhance Linux platform components including services, interfaces, networking, and board config.
• Deliver production‑quality code and unit tests; review PRs and ensure security and quality standards.
• Own and improve embedded build and release environments using Buildroot, cross‑compilers, and artifact management.
• Automate and maintain build, test, and release pipelines with CI/CD, tests, and release validation.
• Investigate and resolve build and release failures through root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate across Systems, Hardware, Quality, DevOps, Security, and Product teams; develop reusable automation and engineering practices.
• Integrate AI-assisted engineering tools with proper validation and traceability controls.
