Job summary

Gables Search Group is seeking a senior engineer to design rugged embedded computing hardware for defense, aerospace and other demanding environments. You will own architecture through board bring-up, validation and production release.

Relocation assistance is available, and travel is minimal. A bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering and 7+ years of embedded hardware design experience are required, with US work authorization expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE/CE or related field.
• 7+ years of embedded hardware design experience.
• Hands-on with schematic capture, board bring-up, validation and debugging.
• Experience with Intel or ARM processors, high-speed interfaces.
• Proficient with oscilloscopes and electronic test equipment; proven leadership on complex hardware projects.
• US work authorization without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design single-board computers, FPGA/DSP carrier boards, sensor processing modules and I/O products.
• Develop digital hardware using Intel/ARM processors, DDR4/DDR5, FPGAs/MPSoCs/RFSoCs.
• Design and troubleshoot PCIe and multi-Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.
• Collaborate with FPGA, software, systems and manufacturing teams to resolve issues and prep for release.
• Provide technical direction on challenging hardware programs.

What You'll Do

• Design single-board computers, FPGA and DSP carrier boards, sensor processing modules, and I/O products.
• Develop digital hardware using Intel or ARM processors, DDR4/DDR5 memory, FPGAs, MPSoCs, and RFSoCs.
• Design and troubleshoot high-speed interfaces, including PCIe and multi-Gigabit Ethernet.
• Work with FPGA, software, systems, and manufacturing teams to resolve design issues and prepare products for release.
• Provide technical direction on challenging hardware programs.

What You'll Bring

• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related engineering field.
• At least seven years of relevant electrical engineering or embedded hardware design experience.
• Hands-on experience with schematic capture, circuit board design, hardware bring-up, validation, and debugging.
• Experience designing with Intel or ARM processors, advanced programmable devices, and high-speed interfaces.
• Skill using oscilloscopes and other electronic test equipment, plus a track record of leading complex technical work.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without employer sponsorship.

Experience with signal integrity, ruggedized electronics, Mentor Expedition Dx, Embedded Linux, or C/C++ is a plus.
