Job summary

Protingent is seeking an Embedded Flight Software Engineer in Los Angeles, CA for a direct-hire role. You will develop low-level C/C++ drivers, bootloaders, and memory management strategies for avionics-grade hardware, and work across BSPs, interfaces, and verification environments.

The role requires 5+ years of embedded software experience, strong C/C++, embedded Linux, and RTOS knowledge, plus hands-on hardware integration and HIL testing capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years embedded software experience with low-level driver development or bootloaders.
• Proficiency in C, C++, embedded Linux and RTOS.
• Familiarity with Git and automated testing/CI workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop low-level C/C++ drivers, BSPs, and hardware interfaces for MCUs, FPGAs, and standard buses.
• Design and implement bootloaders and fail-safe recovery modes.
• Architect memory management across NOR/NAND Flash, SRAM, and EEPROM.
• Configure SPI, I2C, CAN, UART, SpaceWire, or PCIe interfaces between compute units and peripherals.
• Implement telemetry collection, time synchronization, and task scheduling in RTOS or embedded OS.
