Job summary

PeoplePilot in Irvine, California is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our aerospace avionics team, focusing on safety-critical embedded systems.

You will design and implement embedded C/C++ software, develop RTOS, and perform hardware bring-up and device driver work for avionics applications. This onsite role requires 5–15 years of relevant experience and a single US citizenship; local candidates preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with embedded C/C++ software development.
• Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
• Experience with board bring-up and OS bring-up.
• Hands-on experience with hardware interfaces, including UART and USB.
• Ethernet.
• I2C and SPI.
• RS232 and RS422.
• Knowledge of CAN, TCP/IP, and UDP.
• Experience developing software for safety-critical systems.
• Familiarity with SDLC models (Waterfall, V‑Model, Iterative, Incremental, Spiral and Agile).
• Experience with application lifecycle management tools.
• Hands-on experience with electronics test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMM).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (BSCS), Electrical Engineering (BSEE), or related field.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, allocate, derive, and maintain requirements traceability.
• Conduct trade studies and risk analysis.
• Design embedded software architecture and modules.
• Develop, implement, and verify embedded software modules.
• Perform hardware integration, system integration, and testing.
• Support board bring-up, OS bring-up, and device driver development.
• Ensure compliance with customer safety and security standards.
• Prepare technical presentations and engineering documentation.
• Participate in in-house and field integration and testing activities.
