Job summary

FUTEK Advanced Sensor Technology in Irvine, CA seeks a Lead Embedded Firmware & Systems Engineer to own architecture and release of embedded firmware for precision sensor devices. You will drive real-time performance across hardware, software, and manufacturing with strong technical leadership.

Responsibilities include robust C/C++ firmware development, interfaces and drivers for UART/SPI/I2C/USB/CAN, and integration with production/test systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field, advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience developing embedded firmware for microcontroller-based products.
• Strong hands-on C/C++ experience for bare-metal/RTOS systems, including architecture, drivers, debugging, and optimization.
• Ownership of firmware development from requirements to production support.
• Familiarity with MCU peripherals (UART, SPI, I2C, USB, timers, DMA, GPIO) and interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Own embedded firmware architecture, design, implementation, validation, and release for microcontroller platforms.
• Develop real-time C/C++ firmware for data acquisition, processing, diagnostics, calibration, and control features.
• Define firmware requirements, interfaces, state machines, timing, and memory usage with cross-functional teams.
• Implement and maintain drivers and BSPs for peripherals (ADC/DAC, UART, SPI, I2C, USB, CAN, Ethernet).
• Lead bring-up, debugging, protocol troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
