Job summary

Ayar Labs is seeking a Sr. Staff Engineer to drive firmware design from inception to customer deployment in a San Jose on-site role.

You will ensure seamless hardware validation and integration, leveraging expertise in embedded systems, multi-chip package environments, and high-speed SerDes to advance our optical interconnect technology. You will collaborate with analog/mixed-signal, digital, and photonic designers, write tests, review firmware, and contribute to CI/CD, APIs, and build processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of embedded firmware experience with bare-metal development.
• Strong C programming skills and firmware debugging experience.
• Proficient with Git and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience with silicon bring-up and high-speed SerDes.
• Scripting in Python and Make-based build flows.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize embedded firmware for high-speed SerDes interfaces and subsystems.
• Collaborate with analog/mixed-signal, digital, and photonic designers to define MCU architecture for multi-chip package systems.
• Write unit tests and integration tests; participate in firmware code reviews; maintain CI/CD practices.
