Job summary

Temposonics, a part of Amphenol, seeks an experienced embedded firmware engineer in Cary, NC to own firmware for magnetostrictive position sensors. You will design real‑time firmware, implement CANbus and Industrial Ethernet interfaces, and collaborate with global teams on hardware‑software integration.

The role requires 8+ years in embedded firmware, strong C/C++, and hands‑on experience with RTOS, CANopen/SAE J1939, EtherCAT, PROFINET, and EtherNet/IP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field.
• Minimum 8 years of embedded firmware development at the component level on 32‑bit MCUs (ARM Cortex‑M or equivalent).
• Expert in C with working knowledge of C++ and assembly as needed.
• Experience with CANbus (CANopen or SAE J1939) and Industrial Ethernet (EtherCAT/PROFINET/EtherNet/IP).
• Strong debugging skills using oscilloscope, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.

Responsibilities

• Own firmware architecture and core measurement development for magnetostrictive sensors.
• Design, implement, and optimize firmware for interrogation pulses, time‑of‑flight capture, and time‑to‑position conversion.
• Develop digital signal processing, calibration storage, and temperature compensation techniques.
• Develop firmware for analog output variants (0–10 V, ±10 V) and 4–20 mA current loops.
• Implement multi‑protocol outputs (CANopen, SAE J1939, EtherCAT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP) and device description files.
• Mentor engineers, drive code reviews, and collaborate with global teams (Ludenscheid, Hyderabad).
