Tecnova Engineering & Manufacturing is seeking a senior embedded firmware engineer to join a select team and contribute proven expertise to cutting-edge technologies.

The role focuses on architecting, designing, documenting, and implementing firmware for electronic products with a strong emphasis on ARM microcontrollers, RTOS, and hardware interfaces. On-site work is required in Waukegan, IL.

Qualifications

• Experience in embedded firmware development lifecycle and producing stable releases.
• Proficiency in C/C++, version control, and hardware debugging tools.
• Experience with USB, Ethernet, Modbus, Wi-Fi and BT LE, RTOS and bootloaders.

Tecnova is seeking a senior embedded firmware engineer

to join our select team of professionals and contribute proven expertise and passion to creating cutting-edge technologies.

This senior embedded firmware engineer will be an experienced professional with proven expertise in architecting, designing, documenting, and implementing firmware for electronic products used in a variety of industries.

Proven Technical Capability

The successful candidate will have experience in embedded firmware development life cycle, processes, and procedures, resulting in multiple stable releases to production, including designing firmware architecture, designing, coding, debugging, and maintaining firmware applications, and must have proficiency in the following:

• The C/C++ programming language and mastery of development tools.
• Utilizing version control tools.
• Utilizing benchtop power supplies, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, and other hardware debug tools.
• Developing well-structured bare-metal applications in C/C++ for single core ARM microcontrollers, including ST microcontrollers.
• Developing peripheral communications implementations including USART/UART, I2C, and SPI.

The successful candidate will also have experience in developing:

• USB, Ethernet, and Modbus implementations.
• Wireless communications including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE.
• Display implementations, including graphic LCDs.
• Well-structured applications that operate in FreeRTOS or similar RTOS.
• Well-structured bootloader applications.
• Successfully leveraging AI tools to improve work quality and reduce development schedules.
• Task estimates and determining specifications.

The exceptional candidate will also have experience developing the following:

• Well-structured bare-metal applications in C/C++ for multiple-core ARM microcontrollers, including ST microcontrollers.
• Well-structured applications that operate in embedded Linux.
• CAN implementations.
• QSPI or SDIO implementations.
• Solutions with security features are a plus.

• Collaborate well with multi-disciplinary team members, occasionally including other firmware engineers, to efficiently develop successful product design strategies and implementations tailored to each product.

• Demonstrate excellent attention to work product detail with a quality work ethic.
• Are eager to learn new methods and new technologies and to utilize new resources.

• Effective teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to gather and maintain documented client requirements.
• Excellent skills in creating source code documentation, including high-level comments, and in utilizing version control tools.
• Effective time management skills.

Education and experience

• BS degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of related experience.

Salary Pay Range: $115,000-$145,000

Additional Requirements

• Local candidates only. Relocation costs are not covered.
• Occasional local travel may be required.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Location

• Waukegan, IL - Tecnova Engineering & Manufacturing Headquarters.
• Primarily on-site (90%), with occasional remote allowed pending Manager approval.
• 1st shift position.
