Job summary

Boston Engineering, based in Waltham, MA, seeks a Principal Firmware Engineer. The role centers on embedded and firmware work, including RTOS-based systems, hardware bring-up, driver development, and cross-disciplinary collaboration with electrical and mechanical teams.

You will design, code, debug, integrate, and mentor, owning both tactical and strategic aspects of embedded software, setting direction and improving processes while guiding a team of engineers.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field; MS preferred.
• 7+ years of embedded/firmware development experience with 3+ years in senior/tech lead role.
• Strong C and C++ for embedded systems; Python for tooling/testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead embedded/firmware development efforts for RTOS-based systems.
• Architect firmware and collaborate with electrical and mechanical teams.
• Mentor engineers on firmware architecture, debugging, and best practices.
• Own design reviews, roadmap planning, and technical direction.
