Job summary

SPECTRAFORCE is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to join our defense-focused team in Lynchburg, VA. You will design and implement real-time software for mission-critical systems, collaborating with hardware and system engineers to deliver robust solutions.

Responsibilities include writing drivers, protocol stacks, and embedded applications, validating against stringent requirements, and contributing to ongoing R&D efforts in wireless, UWB, and networking technologies.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated, curious-minded, and flexible team player.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering with at least ten years of related experience.
• Proficiency with C, C++ and Python.
• Experience with real-time embedded OS such as FreeRTOS, VxWorks; Linux experience.
• US citizenship is required; knowledge of positioning tech (UWB) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze software requirements to design embedded solutions within constraints.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define functional software interfaces.
• Design, code, integrate, test, and document complete system software.
• Stay current with wireless, networking, and processing technologies.
• Consult with customers on software maintenance and requirements.
• Communicate designs and tradeoffs clearly to teams and customers.
• Provide inputs for budgetary quotes and project planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
