Verkada is seeking a Senior Embedded Engineer to join the Command Connector team in San Mateo, CA. You will design and optimize Linux-based systems that process multiple video streams and interface with edge ML workloads.

You will work on kernel traces, driver issues, secure boot and disk encryption, and network internals, with a focus on reliability and performance in a cloud-connected, on-prem hybrid environment. Onsite five days a week.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or similar
• 5+ years of software development for Linux in System Programming languages (C, C++, Rust, Go)
• Embedded development or low-level system software experience
• Strong knowledge of operating systems and computer architecture

About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned Systems level Linux engineer / Linux internals expert to help us build our next generation of command connector product that turns any legacy camera into a cloud-native, AI-searchable node. Under the hood, it's managing dozens of concurrent video streams, translating disparate camera protocols into a single unified pipeline, and feeding all of it into CV models / inference run at the edge of the device itself. We currently support 100K+ customer cameras on this product and looking for more technical talent to help our growth.

• 5+ years of experience of software development for Linux in System Programming Languages (C, C++, Rust, Go, etc)
• Experience in embedded development or experience with low-level system software development.
• Good knowledge with operating systems and computer architecture.
• Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week

Annual Pay Range

At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of restricted stock units (RSUs)

Below is the annual on-target earnings (OTE) range for full-time employees for this position, comprised of base compensation and commissions (if applicable).

$200,000 - $315,000 USD
