Job summary

Aeva, Inc. in Mountain View, CA is seeking an engineer to join the Scanning Systems team.

You will design and implement controllers for our actuators, perform hands-on testing, and collaborate with embedded, electrical, and mechanical engineers to push the performance of our LiDAR actuation systems. The role requires strong embedded C, MATLAB and Python skills, experience with motion control, and a foundational understanding of PID, state-space, and frequency-domain methods.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience developing controls for motion control applications.
• Strong fundamentals in control design - PID, frequency domain, state space.
• Experience implementing real-time, production-level firmware in C.
• Prototype controller designs and analyze data in Matlab and Python.
• Working knowledge of motors, encoders, motor drivers, ADCs and microcontrollers.
• Master’s level coursework in controls and embedded programming.

Responsibilities

• Developing, testing and analyzing control architectures and improvements.
• Implementing controller changes in C.
• Root-causing control performance issues with embedded, electrical and mechanical engineers.
• Testing and qualifying changes by coordinating with the reliability and test team to identify the appropriate test conditions, collect relevant data and present the results for approval.
