Job summary

Google's Pixel camera team is seeking a software engineer to lead the design and implementation of core exposure control software and ML deployment on device.

You will optimize the camera stack for performance, power, and memory, drive cross-functional collaboration with internal teams, and contribute to camera tuning and image quality evaluation across Google Pixel products. This role emphasizes low-level systems programming in C/C++ and hands-on ML experimentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in low level systems programming languages (C++ or C).
• 5 of years of experience in embedded systems or firmware design, with camera 3A tuning and CMOS image sensor technologies.
• 3 years of experience with embedded operating systems.
• 3 years of experience with Machine Learning model development, optimization, and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of core exposure control software and algorithms for the Pixel camera Auto Exposure.
• Machine Learning deployment: develop, iterate, and deploy ML algorithms directly onto devices in constrained environments.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with internal Google teams, integrating environmental sensor data to enhance camera performance across projects.
• Optimize performance, power consumption, and memory footprint of the Pixel camera AE software stack.
• Contribute to camera tuning and final image quality evaluation of Google Pixel products.
