Overview

We are seeking a Senior Ellucian Banner DBA to lead the administration, maintenance, and optimization of the Banner ERP system and its associated Oracle environment.

This role involves full lifecycle support, including upgrades, patching, performance tuning, and integration of third-party applications.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Banner 9, Oracle 19c, and Linux-based scripting, and will play a key role in ensuring system reliability and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and install updates and patches for Banner ERP and related third-party products.
• Create, maintain, and upgrade ERP environments using Tomcat.
• Provide full lifecycle support for Banner ERP and associated Oracle tools.
• Install, configure, and maintain databases and applications following best practices.
• Design and implement backup, recovery, and cloning processes, including disaster recovery planning.
• Monitor and optimize system performance using AWR, ASH, and other tuning methods.
• Lead planning and execution of major upgrades, including Banner 8 to Banner 9 and MEP environments.
• Utilize tools such as Ellucian Solution Manager (ESM), Application Navigator, Banner Workflow, and Integration Services.
• Configure and support Single Sign-On (SSO), Ellucian Ethos Identity, and other identity services.
• Support Oracle database environments including RMAN, OEM, Oracle Partitioning, Oracle Dataguard, Oracle Net, and PL/SQL scripting.
• Script and automate tasks on RHEL 8/Linux platforms.
• Integrate and maintain third-party applications such as AppWorx, Evisions, and Canvas LMS.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent education.
• 7–9+ years of experience with Ellucian Banner software suite.
• Extensive experience with Oracle tools including RMAN, OEM, Oracle Partitioning, Oracle Dataguard, Oracle Net, and PL/SQL scripting.
• Hands-on experience with shell scripting and managing WebLogic and Tomcat environments.
• Ability to script and automate tasks on RHEL 8/Linux platforms.
• Prior involvement in major Banner upgrades and patching cycles.
• Experience with Ellucian products such as DegreeWorks and ePrint.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with observability tools, preferably New Relic.
• Experience supporting application single sign-on in Banner 9 environments.
• Exposure to learning management systems and third-party integrations.
