Job summary

Ontario Trillium Foundation is seeking an Electroplating Chemist to lead development, optimization, and scale-up of advanced electroplating processes for copper foil used in PCB, battery, and electronics applications.

The role blends hands-on lab work with pilot-scale and manufacturing support to drive new product introductions, improve process capability, and solve complex technical challenges across R&D, engineering, and production teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a technical field (Chemistry, Chemical Eng, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Metallurgy).
• Minimum 5 years hands-on electroplating or surface finishing experience.
• Strong understanding of electrochemistry, electrodeposition mechanisms, and plating fundamentals.
• Experience designing and executing structured experimental programs.
• Proven ability to analyze data and draw actionable conclusions.
• Strong technical writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute lab experiments to develop new plating chemistries and surface treatments for copper foil manufacturing.
• Develop next-gen plating processes to improve electrical, mechanical, thermal, and surface performance.
• Lead new product development projects from concept to commercialization.
• Translate lab findings to pilot-scale and production-scale processes.
• Establish process control methodologies and specifications for new products.
• Support tech transfer from R&D to manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with sales/marketing to understand market needs and trends.
