Job summary

Amentum in Springfield, VA seeks a mid to senior Electronics Technician to design, fabricate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain custom electronic systems used in laboratory and operational settings.

You will work with engineers, developers, and government stakeholders across the hardware lifecycle, from concept to deployment, applying strong analytical and communication skills to deliver reliable hardware solutions.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance with SCI eligibility; US citizenship required.
• 4+ years in electronics, RF systems, or electrical engineering support.
• Experience designing, building, testing, and troubleshooting RF systems.
• PCB design with Altium Designer or equivalent CAD software.
• Embedded firmware development for electronic control systems.
• Proficiency with precision soldering, PCB rework, and component-level repairs.
• Experience with lab equipment: spectrum analyzers, VNAs, oscilloscopes, signal generators.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, assemble, test, and troubleshoot RF and electronic systems for lab and field use.
• Design RF antennas for specialized bands and requirements.
• Create schematic diagrams and PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
• Program and debug embedded microcontrollers using C/C++, Arduino, STM32, ESP32.
• Perform precision SMT and through‑hole soldering and rework per IPC standards.
• Fabricate, modify, repair, and test prototype electronics and RF circuits.
• Tune and optimize RF components using spectrum analyzers and VNAs.
• Troubleshoot circuit boards to component level and validate repairs.
• Develop RF subsystems, transceivers, embedded sensors, and power management.
• Evaluate requirements, prototype, test, document results, and propose design improvements.
• Manage and maintain electronics lab, calibration, inventory, and safety.
• Create technical documentation: schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, test procedures.
• Support system integration, field testing, deployment, and sustainment.
• Collaborate with mechanical designers for enclosure and manufacturability.
