Job summary

Zekai is seeking a Senior Electronics Quality Engineer for a fully remote contractor role. You will contribute expert knowledge to advanced electronics assembly and inspection, shaping data inputs for AI systems.

No AI experience required; domain expertise in electronics quality is essential. The role covers review of CAM/ Gerber data, IPC-610/IPC-620 inspections, AOI defect analysis, and counterfeit screening per AS6081.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in electronics quality, CAM engineering, or failure analysis in PCB assembly, wire harness, or semiconductor packaging domains.
• IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 inspection criteria experience; CIS/CIT certification preferred.
• Review Gerber data and use PCB CAM software for manufacturability and quality assurance.
• Proficiency in SMT processes, AOI defect analysis, and remediation of false calls in automated inspection systems.
• Experience in counterfeit component screening per AS6081 and risk mitigation methods.
• Hands-on semiconductor inspection with C-SAM and X-ray, MIL-STD-883 familiarity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation and knowledge transfer.

Responsibilities

• Review PCB CAM and Gerber files for manufacturability, quality, and standards compliance.
• Perform IPC 610 and IPC 620 visual inspections and provide detailed feedback on PCB assembly or wire harness builds.
• Analyze SMT and AOI defect types, identifying root causes of AOI false calls.
• Apply AS6081 counterfeit detection knowledge to provide actionable risk mitigation.
• Conduct advanced semiconductor package inspections using C-SAM and X-ray, including MIL-STD-883 checks.
• Prepare concise reports and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with project leads to refine workflow processes and enhance AI training datasets.
