Job Description Summary

System Integration and Test (I&T) Engineer (SMTS) serves as the system integrator for technologies and product lines developed using Draper's core capabilities. In this role, they plan, execute, and manage I&T activities starting from early test concept development through system certification. This includes functional simulation, subsystem and system integration and test, verification and validation (V&V), performance evaluation, and acceptance testing. System I&T Engineers leverage multi-disciplinary engineering expertise and collaborate with other Systems Engineers to establish clear, verifiable, and traceable requirements, inform and drive system concepts, architectures, and designs to promote testability, and utilize resident expertise and lessons learned to support the development of highly reliable, robust, and complex systems.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Able to take ownership of assignments and guide others as needed; successfully lead tasks while tracking priorities, scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Derive plans, approaches, and procedures for solving complex I&T problems across a program lifecycle, capturing all assumptions and adapting appropriately to changes in requirements with limited direction.
  • Independently contribute high‑quality content for technical reports and presentations that demonstrates understanding of the task and awareness of the intended audience. Demonstrates both confidence and success when presenting technical information during meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify program/system‑level technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies.
  • Actively mentor less experienced engineers and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.

Experience

Requires 5‑7 years in Systems Engineering or a related role.

Additional Requirements

Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Compensation

The U.S. base salary range for this full‑time position is $82,300.00 – $220,000.00. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all U.S. locations. Salary is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The compensation details listed in U.S. role postings reflect the base salary only and do not include bonuses or benefits.
