Job summary
Virginia Tech's Kevin T. Crofton Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering seeks a Senior Electronics and Instrumentation Technician to design, build, test, and integrate advanced electronics hardware for research and education.
You will work closely with students and faculty to develop instrumentation solutions and support embedded computing projects. The role requires hands-on electronics maintenance, sensor integration, and programming in LabVIEW, Python, Matlab, or C/C++.
Qualifications
- Experience maintaining and servicing electronics, power equipment, and battery systems.
- Knowledge of analog and digital electronics for power, instrumentation, data acquisition, automation, and embedded systems.
- Skills in repairing and building electronic circuits and sensor PCBs.
- Ability to develop and test new lab instruments.
- Ability to program/debug using LabVIEW, Python, Matlab, C/C++, or similar.
Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate advanced electronics hardware for research and education.
- Provide instrumentation support and embedded computing assistance.
- Assist with hardware/software integration for department projects.
- Provide after-hours troubleshooting for teaching lab equipment.
