Job summary

Virginia Tech's Kevin T. Crofton Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering seeks a Senior Electronics and Instrumentation Technician to support world-class research and education by developing custom electronics hardware, instrumentation, and embedded computing solutions.

You will work with students and faculty, design and test circuits, PCB work, and provide after-hours troubleshooting for teaching labs and projects.

Qualifications

Experience maintaining and servicing electronics, power equipment, and battery systems.
Knowledge of analog and digital electronics for power, instrumentation, data acquisition, and embedded systems.
Repair and build circuits and devices, especially sensor electronics and PCBs.
Participate in development and testing of new laboratory instruments.
Program and debug codes using LabView, Python, Matlab, C/C++, or similar.

Responsibilities

Design, build, test, and integrate complex electronics and electrical components.
Develop embedded microprocessor and computer programming for research and education.
Provide technical and instructional support for electronics, instrumentation, and embedded computing in undergraduate labs and electronics labs.
Offer after-hour troubleshooting for teaching laboratory equipment and projects.
