Job summary

USA Tech Recruit in California is seeking a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to lead end-to-end electronic design for precision electro-optical systems in aerospace/defense. You will own from concept through production with hands-on hardware, software, and FPGA collaboration.

The role requires 6+ years with hardware design, experience with Altium/Cadence, embedded C, and ability to obtain US clearance. Onsite schedule 9/80 with relocation assistance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in EE/Electronics with 6+ years, or graduate degree with 4+ years.
  • Strong experience in analog, digital and mixed-signal electronics.
  • Hands-on with design tools: Altium, Cadence, OrCAD, PADS, SPICE or Mentor Graphics.
  • Experience with microcontroller-based board design, embedded C programming and debugging.
  • Experience taking electronics through design, build, integration, test and production.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary teams across electrical, optical, mechanical, software, firmware and FPGA.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
  • Experience with electro-optical, imaging, sensing, aerospace or defence systems.
  • Experience with stepper motor control circuit design.
  • Experience integrating FPGA-based designs with hardware.
  • Strong understanding of digital electronics architecture and component availability.
  • Experience with version control tools and best practices.
  • Existing TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing technical reviews and proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design activities from system requirements through implementation, integration and production release.
  • Develop and review schematics, block diagrams, electrical wiring diagrams and circuit designs.
  • Lead bench-level integration of hardware with software, firmware and FPGA systems.
  • Plan and execute hardware testing, validation activities and design reviews.
  • Develop technical trade studies and contribute to project planning, cost and schedule decisions.
  • Present circuit designs, analysis, performance budgets and test results to engineering teams and customers.

Onsite (9/80 working schedule - every other Friday off)

A leading aerospace and defence technology company developing advanced sensing, communications and mission-critical systems is expanding its engineering team in California. The Senior Electronics Design Engineer will join a multidisciplinary team developing precision electro-optical technology, with hands-on ownership across electronics design, integration and validation. This is an opportunity for a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to make a direct impact on sophisticated defence systems while working across Senior Electronics Design Engineer projects from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical design activities from system requirements through implementation, integration and production release.
  • Develop and review schematics, block diagrams, electrical wiring diagrams and circuit designs.
  • Lead bench-level integration of hardware with software, firmware and FPGA systems.
  • Plan and execute hardware testing, validation activities and design reviews.
  • Develop technical trade studies and contribute to project planning, cost and schedule decisions.
  • Present circuit designs, analysis, performance budgets and test results to engineering teams and customers.
Required Experience & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related discipline, with 6+ years of relevant experience; alternatively, a graduate degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong experience designing analog, digital and mixed-signal electronics.
  • Hands‑on experience with electronic design and simulation tools such as Altium, Cadence, OrCAD, PADS, SPICE or Mentor Graphics.
  • Experience with microcontroller‑based board design, embedded C programming and debugging.
  • Experience taking electronics through the development lifecycle, including design, build, integration, test and production.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams across electrical, optical, mechanical, software, firmware and FPGA disciplines.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
  • Experience with electro‑optical, imaging, sensing, aerospace or defence systems.
  • Experience with stepper motor control circuit design.
  • Experience integrating FPGA‑based designs with electronic hardware.
  • Strong understanding of digital electronics architecture and component availability.
  • Experience with version control tools and best practices.
  • Existing TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Experience supporting customer‑facing technical reviews and proposal activities.
