Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory seeks a skilled technician to assist in assembling and aligning electro/optical/mechanical systems in a collaborative environment. You will help build chassis, harnesses, and PCBs, handling optical subsystems with precision, while following drawings and models for proper fit and calibration.

The ideal candidate has a technical school background with five years of relevant experience, strong communication, and the ability to work in a team; DoD clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a two-year technical school and at least five years of applicable experience.
• Conventional/manual machining experience desired (Bridgeport/lathe).
• Prior experience in assembly and machining for aerospace or national laboratory programs is highly regarded.
• Experience with model-based design (MBD), Cleanroom and ESD protocols is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with assembly and integration of complex electro/optical/mechanical systems with precision and attention to detail.
• Support assembly of chassis, cables/harnesses, PCBs, and may include optical subsystems requiring precise handling, alignment and calibration.
• Interpret drawings, models, specifications, verbal instructions or sketches to make tools, support equipment and test fixtures, or to modify parts for proper fit and function.
• Work well in a team environment.
