You review dispatch notes, stock your van, and head out to a customer with a PLC-driven compactor throwing intermittent faults. You trace the issue inside a live panel, meter in hand, and isolate a failing relay on a 480V three-phase system. By midday, you’re reinforcing a dock understructure with stick welds. Before close, you brief the customer, update service records, and take a call from a junior tech asking for guidance—walking them through meter technique and sensor checks. What You’ll TackleDiagnose and repair industrial trash compactors, balers, and loading dock equipment at customer locations across Michigan.Lead electrical troubleshooting inside live panels: relays, PLCs, limit switches, step-down transformers, sensors, motors; voltages spanning 0–24V, 110–240V single phase, and 480V three-phase.Execute mechanical and hydraulic work: shafts, bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, compactor walls/floors, cylinders, directional valves, and pressure switches—including pulling assemblies for shop rebuilds as needed.Perform on-site fabrication and welding (stick) to repair sheet metal on chutes/hoppers and reinforce dock structures.Represent Rightman Industrial with clear communication to dispatch, the service manager, and customers—closing the loop before you roll.Mentor Level 1–2 technicians, sharing best practices and ensuring safe, thorough, and efficient work. What You Bring3+ years in industrial maintenance or field service with strong, hands-on electrical skills (this is a senior/Level 3 role).Fluency in cabinet wiring, control panels, motors, sensors, and meter usage—able to teach others.Experience with mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting; proficient in stick welding.Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley and Siemens components is a plus.Leadership mindset with experience training, mentoring, or leading technicians.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; willingness to secure a chauffeur’s license (Rightman covers the cost).Independent, self-directed work style with consistent communication to the shop.Personal basic hand tools (specialty tools, welding equipment, and service vehicle provided).Life on the RoadYou’ll manage your own van and schedule across Michigan—primarily Grand Rapids and West Michigan—with routes that can extend to metro Detroit or the Upper Peninsula.
