Job summary

Town of Amherst is seeking a Lead Electrician to perform skilled electrical installation, maintenance, and repair for Town buildings, utilities, and traffic controls. You will supervise Electrician(s), coordinate with DPW and other departments, and ensure safety and code compliance.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent with extensive electrical experience, including Massachusetts Electrical Code knowledge and ability to read complex diagrams.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent plus ten years of electrician experience or an equivalent education/experience combination.
• Thorough knowledge of the Massachusetts Electrical Code and related codes.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints and manuals to install and repair equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical repair, wiring and service to Town buildings and infrastructure.
• Coordinate projects and contractors; supervise Electrician(s).
• Develop and execute preventative maintenance for traffic and street lighting.
• Maintain records and reports; budget for electrical operations.
