Job summary

City of Northampton seeks an Electrician to test, repair, and maintain electrical wiring across all City buildings and properties. The role focuses on circuits, fixtures, and equipment, with attention to safety and reliable public lighting.

You will work Monday–Friday during a 40-hour week, with a strong emphasis on independent problem solving and documentation. Qualified applicants have a High School diploma, 1–2 years’ experience, and Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician License; Master

Qualifications

High School degree and 1–2 years of experience as an electrician.
Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician License; Master Electrician License preferred.
Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

Test, repair and maintain electrical wiring for municipal and school facilities.
Install, test, repair and maintain electrical circuits, wiring systems, fixtures and equipment; troubleshoot faults.
Ensure public lighting is functioning and assess lighting needs.
Inspect circuits/fixtures to locate faults and test safety concerns.
Maintain maintenance records and perform related duties.
