Job summary

Caltech in Pasadena, CA seeks a Senior Electrician to coordinate and install electrical systems per blueprints while ensuring safety and compliance. You will mentor junior staff and train colleagues while maintaining campus electrical infrastructure.

Essential duties include field verifications, system troubleshooting, and coordinating tasks with campus management. Strong knowledge of codes, tools, and safety practices is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent with electrical theory courses.
• California certified journeyman electrician with 10+ years experience.
• Apprenticeship program or 2-year electrical maint/construct cert completed.
• Familiar with federal/state/local electrical codes and safe practices.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and maintain a safe work environment.
• Mentor less experienced team members in safe practices.
• Communicate professionally, in writing and verbally.
• Train new/less experienced staff on procedures and tasks.
• Perform field verification of campus electrical systems.
• Coordinate tasks using IWMS for scheduling and asset management.
• Inspect field installations for safety and workmanship.
• Support electrical safety program compliance tasks.
• Install and troubleshoot electrical systems and raceways.
• Install circuit breakers, panels, switches, and transformers.
• Install communication cabling as needed.
• Repair lighting from ladders or lifts; work at heights.
• Use basic electrical tools and test equipment.
• Troubleshoot wiring, motors, and control circuits.
