Job summary

Caltech is seeking a Senior Electrician to lead installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems per blueprints and safety standards on campus. The role includes mentoring junior staff, field verification, and coordination of tasks with IWMS while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Essential role requiring a California certified journeyman electrician with 10+ years of experience, strong communication, and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with electrical theory/ codes coursework.
• Must be California certified journeyman electrician with 10+ years experience.
• Completion of a 2-year electrical construction/maintenance program or apprenticeship.
• Knowledge of Federal, State and local electrical codes and regulations.
• Must provide and maintain basic hand tools.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
• Mentor and train less experienced team members.
• Install, troubleshoot, and service electrical systems per blueprints and drawings.
• Coordinate task scheduling and asset management using the IWMS Desktop.
• Perform field verification of campus electrical systems and safety tasks.
• Inspect field installations for safety and workmanship quality.
• Travel with campus vehicles and assist across various electrical duties as needed.
