Job summary

Jacobs in Jackson, MS is seeking a Lead Electrician to support the city's critical water and wastewater facilities. You will lead a team, perform electrical maintenance, and execute the preventive maintenance program designed for the site.

Responsibilities

• Tests defective equipment to determine the cause of malfunction or failure using standard electrical test equipment.
• Inspects circuits and wiring for specified shielding and grounding and repairs or rewires plant equipment systems according to state building codes and safety regulations.
• Maintains the files necessary to support all maintenance activities.

Lead Electrician – Jackson, MS

As a Lead Electrician based in Jackson, MS, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. In this role, you'll perform electrical maintenance, make modifications, and execute the preventive maintenance program that is designed for the facility.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains all facility electrical wiring and fixtures in accordance with blueprints, manuals, and building codes using appropriate hand and electrician's tools
• Installs and repairs electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment
• Repairs and maintains major equipment such as motors, generators, and electrical control systems
• Tests defective equipment to determine the cause of malfunction or failure using standard electrical test equipment
• Observes functioning of installed facility equipment to detect hazards and need for adjustment, relocation, or replacement
• Inspects circuits and wiring for specified shielding and grounding and repairs or rewires plant equipment systems according to state building codes and safety regulations
• Plans layout of new wiring installations
• Inspects all equipment on a regularly scheduled basis; meets all requirements of the established preventive maintenance program; inspects, maintains, and repairs solid state boiler control systems and electrical switch gear and electric motors
• Adjust, calibrates, and repairs electrical-pneumatic control systems; inspects electrical-pneumatic systems for emergency repairs; reports and logs all findings
• Maintains the files necessary to support all maintenance activities

Here’s what you’ll need

• Four (4) plus years of experience in operating water/wastewater treatment plants or similar

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operation of engines, pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment; general maintenance work; safe work practices; principles and methods of biological and chemical sewage analyses, effects and problems of industrial waste in water/wastewater treatment processes, principles of supervision
• Knowledge of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, data management systems and be able to operate plant PLC’s and SCADA system

The base salary range for this position is $61,700.00 to $98,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
