Job summary

The University of Virginia's Facilities Management is seeking a Senior Electrician to support Housing electrical systems across 8,000 beds and 187 buildings in Charlottesville. The role involves complex installation, repair, and maintenance, with minimal supervision and mentorship to junior electricians.

You will perform preventative and emergency repairs, ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, and Joint Commission standards, and coordinate with the supervisor on assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Seven years of electrical experience.
• Journeyman or Master electrician license.

Responsibilities

• Lay out and run large, complex electrical jobs.
• Assist supervisor in daily task coordination.
• Perform preventative and emergency electrical repairs.
• Respond to emergencies.
• Inform customers of job status and delays.
• Ensure OSHA, NEC, and Joint Commission compliance.
• Specify, estimate, and install equipment and wiring.
• Mentor lower-level electricians.
• Other duties as assigned.
